Here we go, how mozzila can leave mobile browser alone, when Google, Apple, Dolphin HD and Opera are already there. We have started seeing mozzila fennec on Android now, it looks very neat and intuitive.
//image I have to say, if Mozzila can reduce the size of browse and increase performance of UI, it can beat Opera and Dolphin, both are doing very well in mobile world, I won't talk about safari as that is just available on iPhone, like all other Apple products.
Fennec's interface is similar to Dolphin, both has clever left and right bars, which use can view by sliding browser right and left respectively. Mozzila Fennec can take huge advantage over other mobile browsers by using FireFox plugins. There is no doubt FireFox has the most powerful plugins in all browsers.
After playing with my HTC Desire suddenly I realise that my phone is not vibrating on any message received. I was pretty sure that I have set up the settings right to vibrate the phone on every new message received. I went back to settings and tested if the option is checked and it was. after that I started thinking that there is something wrong with my Android phone but then I asked one of my Desire friend if he has the same issue and he said yes. so I started searching why is that. its a bug in Android 2.1 that it does not vibrate on message received. There are few software , you can use to deal with thus bug. Here I will talk about one of the most appropriate one I found "smart vibrator". Very simple interface and options to style your vibration. whether you like vibration similar to a washing machine or a proper vibrator it will make it work.
please do not hesitate to comment your suggestions of Vibrator Apps!
As more and more smartphone apps are becoming available, they are becoming more competitive and advanced. Here i am going to be more specific as i will be talking about MapDroyd. A very COOL name and very cool app as well.
MapDroyd is app for Android for navigation. When i first downloaded it, my response was what a joke. Maps were really bad and there was no multi-touch facility available. But since my first download, i have received many updates. I do not call more updates as bad product, but it is an improvement sometimes.
In all those updates now it has improved a lot and maps are much much better. Now it has multi-touch functionality, you can manage your maps, check your location on the map. It will automatically adjust map on rotation. The best of all is you can download maps of whichever country you want without any charge as it is using OpenStreetMap.
I have to say overall this product has improved a lot and there is no doubt future of MapDroyd is bright!
As we seen now world is jumping from iPhone to Android. HTC has provided right product at the right time with right apps. as I am writing this from opera mini on my new HTC Desire. I have to say I have had iPhone before desire and i am feeling better when i have desire in my hand. The only thing I miss in all these qwerty keyboards is keys for Cursor movement and why I am saying this because in desire I can see they had space available to put two arrow buttons on the left and right corner to move cursor left and right. I am not sure why they dont have that.
If you see Sony Erricsson P1i, with full hard QWERTY keyboard it has two little keys in the bottom, and they help you to move cursor on the screen. Desire or any touchscreen phones keyboard can be the same, they can put keys on Left and Right of A and L keys respectively.
here is side by side comparison of iPhone OS 4.0 and Desire
iPhone 4.0 Not sure will it have multiple apps running.
Desire Does that already with Andriod
New iPhone might have 5MP camera.
But Desire already has 5MP camera with brilliant video.
On iPhone Google Street View is just a normal street view
Desire's Google street view app can move with you as you walk and show you where you are exactly. Great!
Skype runs well on iPhone but you cant have skype and something else running side by side on iPhone.
Desire killed that by having multiple apps. you can have fring running on the back all the time.
iPhone does not have any thing like RADIO which is there from centuries.
Desire has built in radio - i have to say its not very user friendly but it does work.
iPhone OS 4 might bring out option to use ur iPhone as modem for your laptop.
But Hey HTC Desire does that for you and do it well.
I am just worried like before Apple was one the main contributors of COMPUTERS and MAC and at that time they were so advanced that no one could beat them but suddenly Microsoft jumped into the band wagen and Apple went into liquidation. It can happen again with iPhone and Andriod that iPhone might lose its charm as other providers are coming up with better products.
Apple needs to keep up with others and open its products to make it easy for users and developers.
We waited long for Opera mini to come on iPhone and apple has taken a brave move to allow Opera mini app for iPhone. It is a great news, as we expected Opera mini is much faster than Safari with some cool features but at the same time it needs improvements. But overall opera mini will be a very good competitor for safari.
Opera has done very good job with mini. Easy access to book marks, history. Opera mini can save pages and you can search page content as well, We miss these features in Safari.
Opening pages in opera is much faster than safari and if you move Back and Forward to previous or next page it uses history to load the page rahter then reloading the whole page which makes it easy to go back and forth.
In settings it has option of Fullscreen which is again a cool feature to have better view of the web page. Another cool feature is Mobile view to see mobile version of websites. I personally dont like seeing websites in mobile view like BBC website if you open in safari it just shows mobile version of BBC's website but in opera i can view the full BBC's website.
Zooming and multi-touch does not work perfectly in opera but its not something you can't get use to very easy. If you double tab on the screen it zooms in and if you double tab it zooms out.
Opera has provided very sleek way of viewing all open pages and opening a new page is quite good as well. We can see opera has done a good job and why not as Opera Mini generates more than $1.2 billion per year for mobile operators [1]. And opera mini has more than 50 million users worldwide [2] which makes opera mini an attractive and important product for opera.
Opera link is another great option to synchronize speed dial, bookmarks and notes accross other opera powered devices.
Opera has also done a great job of providing a clear video comparison of Opera mini and Safari on iPhone [3]. Opera mini uses opera's compression technology which compress page on the server and sends it to the browser on compress format which makes is much faster even on slower networks.
I see a big and bright future of Opera mini in mobile world.
In this blog i will talk about unique, different, important and profitable mobile apps as well as mobile phones. We will talk about iphone apps, android apps, palm pre apps and java apps. In past few years apple has made a big impact on mobile market via iphone and ipod but other companies are not far behind. Andriod is becoming more and more popular and more hardware vendors are using Andriod. The problem with iphone is that to develop an app for iphone, you have to have money in your pocket first and then you don't know if your app is going to be accepted or not but to develop app for any other platform cost is nearly null. Palm did a great job with palm pre but it need to make webOs available for other manufacturers to make it worth while. Like google is googling with its android and other manufacturers are making android based machines. So we will see how and where this fight goes!
